Acting Career

Many of you may have been wondering why the standup shows haven’t been as often as before and it’s really as simple as this: money.

The comedy world is interesting in the way that a club owner will tell you that they can only afford to pay you a small amount while paying a big name tens of thousands of dollars to perform.

I understand that supply and demand is very real, but unfortunately, you can’t pay bills in the “experience” that club owners assume we are willing to accept as payment, which I am not.

Acting has been the filler; I’m making more money and, honestly, making better friends. The acting community that I am involved in doesn’t have the same level of "I’m better than you” that I experienced in multiple comedian groups. I genuinely believe I am no better than the person next to me, regardless of success. So I chose to disassociate myself with them.

I’ve been happy, and still doing comedy in movies and shows as well as a standup show every once in a while.

Simply put, until club owners realize that their club isn’t the draw and the comedian is, the money is better in other venues.

I will never give up on comedy, I absolutely love making you all laugh. I just can’t justify supporting the many comedy clubs that refuse to support me as well.

Thank you for your time,

Jake
